Extension of the duration of permanent residence permits and statements of permanent residence permit

As part of the overall strategy of the Greek Government to restrict the ongoing spread of Covid-19 in Greece, the Greek Minister of Immigration and Asylum has issued an explanatory Ministerial Decision, published in the Official Gazette on 30th of March 2020 (Official Gazette no. B’ 1086/30.03.2020) in order to regulate temporarily urgent matters falling within his competence.

Pursuant to the said Ministerial Decision:

  1. The renewal of residence permits expired from the 11th of February until the 11th of March 2020 and which have been issued and are renewable pursuant to Law 4251/2014 and the Presidential Decree 106/2007, as the case may be, as well as those expiring from the 12th of March until the 12th of May, may be performed up to five (5) months after their expiration date i.e. until the 12th of October 2020. In this case, no ratifying administrative decision is required.
  1. The certificates of application for permanent residence permit and the special certificates of legitimate residence of Art. 25 L. 4251/2014, which expired prior to the 12th of March 2020 and which were renewable pursuant to the applicable law, as well as those expiring from the 13th of March until the 12th of May, may be renewed up to five (5) months after their expiration date i.e. until the 12th of October 2020. In this case, no ratifying administrative decision is required creatorschoice.ca.
  1. The duration of the above mentioned under 1 and 2 permits and certificates is deemed to have been extended by operation of the law until the date of submission of their renewal application before the competent Authorities.
  1. Third- country nationals obliged to submit an initial residence permit application within the period starting from the 12th of March until the 10th of April 2020, following the issuance of an entry visa for that purpose pursuant to Law 4251/2014 and the Presidential Decree 106/2007, are entitled to proceed so until the 10th of May 2020 at the latest.
